Updates from SBA on Veteran Small Business Certification Program

SBA has recently shared updates related to the SBA’s new Veteran Small Business Certification (VetCert) program. VetCert implements changes outlined in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (NDAA 2021) which directs the certification function from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to SBA as of January 1, 2023.

On December 6, 2022, the SBA’s Office of Veterans Business Development (OVBD) hosted a live webinar, First Look and Live Demo: SBA’s New Veteran Small Business Certification Program, to roll out the new program and share the SBA’s excitement to serve the veteran small business community with this new program.

The webinar featured a discussion on policy as well as a technical demonstration of the platform. You can watch the recording of the webinar through this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2ocyiM7nb4.

For questions, be sure to visit www.sba.gov/vetcert and check out the updated FAQs.

Please continue to direct any SBA-specific questions about VetCert to SBA's mailbox – cvetransfer@sba.gov. In addition, your regional PTAC specialist is available to assist you as well - please reach out with any questions you may have.

The VetCert portal is scheduled to begin accepting applications on Monday, January 9, 2023.

We’re here when you’re ready.
